Trustwave Web Application Firewall Achieves Common Criteria Validation

CHICAGO - February 5, 2013 - Trustwave, a leading provider of cloud-based compliance and information security solutions, announced today that the Trustwave WebDefend® Web application firewall has achieved Common Criteria validation with EAL 2+ level of certification. This accreditation demonstrates Trustwave's ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of federal, state and municipal government entities and enterprises worldwide by delivering technology that meets stringent security standards.

Common Criteria is an internationally approved set of security standards that provides a clear and reliable evaluation of the security capabilities of Information Technology (IT) products. This framework provides confirmation that the development, evaluation and validation of an IT product has met specific security standards in accordance with an independent assessment accepted by the most security-conscious customers, such as the United States federal government. The international scope of Common Criteria, currently adopted by 26 nations, allows users from other countries to purchase IT products with the same level of confidence, due to the recognition of the certification across the complying nations.

"After successfully completing this rigorous evaluation process, Trustwave has achieved this international, highly-recognized standard in data security for the company's Web application firewall," said Phil Smith, senior vice president of Government Solutions. "Ensuring security at the foundation of the software development process and ongoing operations is critical to preventing attacks and keeping malicious hackers out of applications. Trustwave WebDefend continues to play a critical role in achieving that goal for businesses and governments worldwide."

"With the certification of Trustwave WebDefend, Trustwave continues its commitment to providing customers with products that have been certified to meet stringent international standards for IT security," said Erin Connor, director of the Common Criteria Test Lab at EWA-Canada.  "Customers that buy Trustwave WebDefend can be confident that it will be a trusted Web application firewall in their network environment."

Trustwave WebDefend is an award-winning, highly scalable Web application firewall and application integrity solution that provides customers with real-time, continuous security against attacks and data loss with the assurance that Web applications operate as intended and are compliant with industry regulations. With its built-in comprehensive learning engine intelligence and enhanced virtual patching capabilities, Trustwave WebDefend delivers comprehensive and continuous protection for Web applications.

Trustwave WebDefend is part of the company's holistic Trustwave 360 Application Security Program, the only application security program in the industry that offers a life cycle solution including training, services and Web Application Firewall.

Several other Trustwave security solutions have also achieved Common Criteria validation including Trustwave SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) and Trustwave NAC (Network Access Control).
