Like it or not, Monday is upon us. Here are five items making news that can help you kick off your work week in style - or at least a little more informed.

The hack seen 'round the world: A Wired reporter got taken on a wild road as two researchers demonstrate how it's possible to remotely attack a car in motion. The research resulted in a major recall and renewed focus on the risks posed by internet-connected technologies. The Senate coincidentally introduced legislation to toughen standards of protection in automobiles.

Cash out: ATM skimming attacks reportedly are soaring in Mexico. Trustwave researchers have been studying the vulnerability of cash machines, among other commonly exploited technologies, for some time.

I spy: The FBI in the United States is more worried than ever before about the threat posed by Chinese attackers attempting to steal intellectual property and other trade secrets.

Collared: U.S. authorities arrested five people in connection with the theft of tens of millions of customer credentials, which were used as part of a classic pump-and-dump spam scheme.
