Announcing the 2020 Trustwave Data Security Index

Released today, the 2020 Trustwave Data Security Index was created to help cybersecurity decision makers and professionals better understand the pressures that are affecting how organizational data is stored and protected. The report was based on a survey of almost 1,000 IT professional and cybersecurity decision makers from around the world, with a focus on the regions of the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Singapore.

Available for complimentary download, the report asked timely questions about how data is stored, how data is protected, what types of threat organizations experience, and more. The answers from the respondents, most of who work for organizations with over 500 employees, resulted in key findings which include:

  • The average size of a cybersecurity team is between 6-15 people.

  • The hybrid cloud/on-premises database model is fast becoming the norm, with most organizations using multiple cloud providers.

  • Almost all respondents listed their data security as important or very important.

  • Malware and ransomware were ranked as the most pressing concern by 38% of respondents.

  • Most organizations believe they are in compliance with key regulations like General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), but their database security strategies reveal potential gaps.

2020 Trustwave Data Security Index

The 2020 Trustwave Data Security Index report depicts how technology trends, compromise risks and regulations are shaping how organizations’ data is stored and protected. The report is based on a recent survey of 966 full-time IT professionals who are cybersecurity decision makers or security influencers within their organizations. Over 75% of respondents work in organizations with over 500 employees in key geographic regions including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Singapore.
