Source: IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of ICT suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each vendor’s position within a given market. The Capabilities score measures vendor product, go-to-market, and business execution in the short-term. The Strategy score measures alignment of vendor strategies with customer requirements in a 3-5-year timeframe. Vendor market share is represented by the size of the circles. Vendor year-over-year growth rate relative to the given market is indicated by a plus, neutral or minus next to the vendor name.

“Trustwave is honored to be named a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape for APAC Professional Security Services,” said Trustwave CEO Eric Harmon. “As an organization, Trustwave proudly deploys our global resources to deliver the finest cybersecurity solutions at the regional and local level to best protect organizations from the ever-evolving threat landscape.”

This IDC MarketScape examined 13 vendors offering professional security services in the highly competitive and maturing Asia/Pacific market. IDC meticulously vetted the participating firms using the IDC MarketScape model, which reviewed the vendors’ capabilities and strategies against an extensive list of scoring criteria and parameters.

Trustwave uses its global resources to bring the highest level of cybersecurity solutions possible to the APAC region. As detailed in the IDC MarketScape, these resources include Trustwave’s ongoing three-year program to strengthen the regional cyber resilience of Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands, and Tonga and Vanuatu. The project leverages Trustwave’s Australia-based team’s cybersecurity expertise in delivering a tailored cybersecurity advisory and technical support for the aforementioned countries.

“Trustwave delivers its wide assortment of professional security services by using a pragmatic approach based on real-world experience and data to provide security advisory services for boards and executives, architecture and operational support to security teams, and GRC capabilities to the wider organization” said Christian Fam, Research Manager at IDC. “With a strong emphasis on innovation, especially through its distinctive intellectual property investments captured in its platforms and scalable delivery frameworks, Trustwave is well positioned as a trusted customer-centric partner that continues to adapt to the ever-changing threat landscape.”

The IDC MarketScape defined professional security services as security advisory, security assessment, and awareness services. These professional security services range from security strategy and planning, GRC, architecture assessment, threat assessment and simulation services, and incident management. Professional security services exclude the implementation services that often refer to the installation and configuration services of security software or hardware products.

Trustwave’s Strengths

According to the IDC MarketScape, “Trustwave’s primary strength lies in its breadth of services augmented by its technical capability and quality advisory. According to customer feedback, the delivery team continuously outputs timely deliverables. In addition, customers have expressed their appreciation of the vendor’s value-added supplementary thought leadership services and have also mentioned that the onboarding process was simple and straightforward. A good portion of Trustwave’s PSS engagements derive from existing clients and word of mouth.”

“The company’s dedication in ensuring cost-effective services for its customers lies in its flexible pricing models and its consistent focus on collaboration and information reuse.” Trustwave Security Colony, which is included with some solutions, contains an overabundance of documents, such as checklists, policy documents, and guidelines from previous client engagements, from which customers can leverage.

“To always be at the forefront of the cyber landscape, Trustwave’s SpiderLabs brings together the threat intelligence from its MSS business, malware reverse engineers, penetration testing, and digital forensics business with its cyber advisory expertise to interpret CISO-ready material to influence decision making.”

IDC narrowed down the field of players based on the following criteria and subsequently collected and analyzed data on these 13 PSS vendors for this IDC MarketScape.

  • PSS portfolio: Each technology SP is required to possess a fairly comprehensive PSS portfolio, with at least 50% or more matching IDC’s scope of PSS taxonomy, including security strategy and planning, GRC, architecture assessment (e.g., cloud, network, identity, endpoint, OT, and Internet of Things [IoT]), threat assessment and simulation services (e.g., vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, red/blue teaming, and black/white/grey-box testing), and incident management.
  • Geographic presence: Each technology SP is required to have in-country PSS delivery capability (e.g., security operations center [SOC] presence) in a minimum of two sub-Asia/Pacific regions: North Asia (Japan and South Korea), Greater China (China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan), Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Philippines), South Asia (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh), and Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).
  • Multipoint assessment: Each vendor is participating in a multipoint assessment covering a total of 23 capabilities and strategy criteria determined by IDC to be most conducive to success in providing professional security services in Asia/Pacific.
