Newly Patented Feature will Help Prevent Loss of Credit Card Information

CHICAGO (December 8, 2009) - Trustwave, the leading provider of on-demand data security and payment card industry compliance management solutions to businesses and organizations throughout the world, has received its sixth U.S. patent for its Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technology, specifically for its Content Analysis Engine which is able to detect and identify sensitive compliance and business-related data with greater accuracy than other available methods.

The core of Trustwave's DLP technology is its patented Content Analysis Engine, which analyzes content against policy, helps detect and classify structured and unstructured content and performs text extraction for any file type. This patented detection and classification technology provides unparalleled visibility and protection of data covered by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). PCI DSS is the payment card industry security requirement for entities that store, process or transmit cardholder data, and has been endorsed by all the major card brands - Visa Inc., MasterCard Worldwide, Discover Network, American Express and JCB.

This patented technology is integrated with Trustwave's TrustKeeper® Agent, an on-site compliance and security client that performs policy checks and inspects for prohibited data stored on systems covered by the PCI DSS. The Content Analysis Engine enables TrustKeeper Agent to search for credit card data, Track 2 data and personally identifiable information with greater accuracy to ensure merchants are not storing prohibited data and placing their consumers' information at risk.

The addition of DLP technology expands on the existing security and compliance features of TrustKeeper Agent. This endpoint security solution also includes remote vulnerability scanning, application detection and integrity monitoring, system security configuration monitoring and compliance mapping, local network analysis and event log monitoring services.

Once installed, merchants can use TrustKeeper Agent's patented Content Analysis Engine to search for sensitive information stored on systems such as PC's, servers, Point-of-Sale terminals and "back of house" payment servers. In addition, administrators can establish sensitive data policies, review scan results and access reports through TrustKeeper, Trustwave's on-demand compliance management solution. If policy violations are detected, users can remediate them by encrypting the related data, deleting it or moving it to a secure location. The solution enables users to greatly reduce the risk of data loss by more effectively managing and securing sensitive data while limiting the cost of compliance.

"Integrating Trustwave's patented DLP technology into TrustKeeper Agent uniquely positions our product in the marketplace," says Robert J. McCullen, chairman and CEO. "We are leading providers of DLP technology and PCI DSS compliance solutions, and together we are providing our customers with a cutting-edge solution that protects their business and their customers' information and facilitates their compliance with information assurance standards and regulations."
