MC²/The Chertoff Group Acquisition Sets Trustwave up for Accelerated Growth

IDC Market Note: Trustwave Reemerges with a Promising Future and Partner

IDC recently wrote an IDC Market Note, Trustwave Reemerges with a Promising Future and Partner (doc #US51697323, January 2024) about the acquisition of Trustwave by The MC² Security Fund, an affiliate of The Chertoff Group, citing the move as a natural fit. The alignment of Trustwave’s substantial cybersecurity portfolio with The Chertoff Group’s established strengths in government services, enterprise, and homeland security offers new growth opportunities and a promising future.

“The Chertoff Group’s strategic cybersecurity advisory services are complementary to Trustwave’s cybersecurity portfolio as well as the overall MC²/Chertoff security portfolio that includes DMI, Virtu, and ThayerMahan,” stated research manager Scott Tiazkun in the IDC Market Note.

The report went on to say, “This mission focused thinking now sets Trustwave up for accelerated growth, in partnership with Chertoff, to execute on the security goals that Chertoff strategically advises its clients.”

The IDC Market Note stated the acquisition brings Trustwave into the spotlight as a stand-alone cybersecurity company allowing it to continue focusing on its high-growth Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Co-Managed SOC offerings, and growing as a Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) and providing a large portfolio of additional security services. IDC is bullish on Trustwave’s future, noting it is now partnered with a firm with deep connections across large global companies and government agencies with a shared security-focused mission.

IDC also discusses in detail the landscape Trustwave operated in for the last eight years, and how recent product decisions by its leadership have set the company on a course toward higher revenue growth. Additionally, because Trustwave is no longer owned by a non-US entity, it opens even more opportunities for Trustwave.

Please read the entire note to gain not only a better understanding of the reasoning behind The MC² Security Fund’s acquisition of Trustwave but also IDC’s breakdown of how Trustwave is currently successfully navigating the extremely competitive MSS market, and the historical and future role partnerships will play in this space.
